From the Executive Director’s Desk
Dear Colleagues,
I thank each one of you for your hard work and your belief in our mission of transforming Nalanda. Your resilience and commitment have enabled us to stand together and deliver meaningful outcomes. Over the year, we implemented four key programs: DigiGurukul, DigiKul, ASHA, and UMEAD (Plantation and Pond).
DigiGurukul:
Implemented in two Girls’ Residential High Schools in Rajgir and Sabbait. The Rajgir school achieved 54% first division results, while Sabbait achieved 30%. Both schools reported zero failures. Rajgir improved by 31 percentage points over 2025 and exceeded the state benchmark by 24 percentage points.
Digikul:
We trained 80 rural youth, of whom 67% were women. Fifteen youth (19%) secured jobs or moved to higher education. Additionally, 97 elementary students were trained from three Digikul centers.
ASHA :
Across 10 schools, 504 students were enrolled and 242 graduated. It is encouraging to see students who earlier struggled with basic Hindi now reading stories and poems with confidence and expression.
UMEAD (Plantation and Pond):
We implemented 36 plantation and 2 pond projects across four Panchayats in Silao block. ₹50 lakh of MGNREGA funds were effectively utilized, creating assets for 38 families.
Overall, we implemented projects worth ₹1.2 crore, benefiting 720 students across 12 schools and 53 families across four Panchayats in 2025–26.
We also faced challenges. CSR funding declined sharply in January 2026, leading to cash flow constraints and the unfortunate departure of some team members.
Despite these difficulties, we remained committed to our mission and continued our work without interruption.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our well-wishers—Dr. Anand Deshpande, Dr. Poornima Balsubramanyam, Mr. Anjani Singh, and Ms. Khursheed—for their generous support during this critical period, which enabled us to meet all obligations till March. We also express our sincere gratitude to our institutional partners—Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, CONCOR, and IRFC—for their continued support during the year, which has been critical to sustaining and expanding our programs.
